THE RAINBOW, I think most of us know what a rainbow is, if not we shall find out later. But does anyone know where the "Rainbow Ends"
Well if you listen to the scientists they will tell you that the rainbow that we see in the sky, is made by tiny particles of water trapped in the atmosphere, which, when the sunlight shines through them, creates the shape of a bow across the sky. It is only when our eyes see the sun through the tiny raindrops that makes us see this fantastic prism in the sky. I don't know if any of you have been across the sea on a boat and looked over the side to see the waves, maybe you were lucky enough to see a salt water rainbow reaching up from the waves towards the sky, again this is caused by reflection of light through the droplets splashed upwards from the motion of the boat breaking through and us catching the reflection in our eyes. I saw my first "salt water rainbow," going over to Skye on a ferry many, many years ago. Now that is the scientific explaination, I like the real one better, you know the one of the Leprechauns and the Fairies, and the Pots of Gold, much more exciting. I am sure that I will be able to put many more things on this, your Rainbow Page. Aren't you Kids?
RAINBOWS on PARADE
(Tune: “When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again”)
The children are marching into town, hooray, hooray.
The children are dressed like rainbows as they come our way. Some wear orange, yellow or red,
Some wear rainbows on their heads.
Oh, we’re oh so glad that the children could come today.
The children are marching into town, hooray, hooray.
Some hold prisms as they come our way.
Some wear purple, green or blue.
Some wave rainbow streamers, too.
Oh, we’re oh so glad that the children could come today.
I do hope you like this little trip to Oz, not quite the same as Judy Garlands Version. This one is animated, and so very, very lovely that I know you will enjoy it. Below, here, there is wonderful picture that I found on a web site. It was made by the girls from the 9th St. Barnabas Rainbows, only trouble is I have lost where they came from. Can anybody help me, Pleaseeee? Next can you look really hard at the picture next to it and tell me if you can guess what it is? They have them all over the world I think. But maybe not quite as colourful as this one. Wish they were, none of us would complain :)
